Camping at the Tent Embassy
This year we have the honour and privilege of being invited to camp at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy. We are encouraging folks to arrive the day before SOS starts (from midday on the 30th June) to leave enough time to register and set up camp.
All participants are required to read and agree with the Tent Embassy Protocol before coming onto the site. Because we will be camping in winter in Canberra where the temperature regularly gets below zero overnight, please make sure you bring enough warm clothes, sleeping bags and doonas! Despite the cold, being able to camp at the Tent Embassy and under the stars in the middle of a capital city, and in front of Parliament House in a position of solidarity with those at the Embassy, is a something few in Australia will ever get to experience. We will also have warm marquee spaces and fires going to save you from the chill :) If you really cannot camp, limited billeting places will be available in Canberra. If you require a billet (or can provide one), please contact the SOS Organising Crew on [email protected]. |
